The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
Professionnal Associations | Canada – Global

The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is a professional organization that supports family medicine education and research and advocates on behalf of family medicine, family physicians and the patients they serve. The CFPC sets the standards for and accredits postgraduate training in family medicine in Canada’s 17 medical schools. The CFPC characterizes the family physician as a patient advocate. Family physicians, providing ongoing care to their patients, use repeated patient contact to strengthen the patient-physician relationship and promote the healing power of interactions. With time, this relationship becomes increasingly important to patients, their families, and the physician. The CFPC’s mission is to support family medicine to improve the health of Canadians by setting standards for education, certification, and support for family physicians, advocating and researching, and honouring the patient-physician relationship as central to the profession.
